USA Basketball proud sponsor, sports apparel giant NIKE,has rolled out it's official 2012 US Men's basketball jersey; One that'll have defenders and treehuggers heads turning. The company has re-affirmed it's commitment to bringing innovation and inspiration to every athlete in the world through considered design. This process is manifested in the jersey through the engineered re-use of plastic bottles that actually enhance athletic performance. The jersey's material is composed 96% recycled polyester and the shorts are 100% recycled polyester. About 22 recycled plastic bottles make up the jersey. The jersey system uses patented Dri-Fit technology to wick away sweat and is modified to enhance movement for a better fit. 

Sustainable business practices can be a synonym for innovation, finding a better, more efficient way to accomplish a task. Nike has found a way to serve both the needs of the athlete and the needs of the planet in their latest apparel innovation. For Nike, the summer of innovation, as they are calling it, represents a significant step in the journey for a more sustainable world. Apparel, and many other products, designed and manufactured from environmentally friendly materials is going to be a major practice going forward

The 2012 team has inspired debate amongst talking heads and fans about it's chances against the 1992 Dream Team. The '92 team left a legacy of domination and patriotic pride for basketball fans to remember them by. While the 2012 USA Men's Basketball team's Olympic run has yet to tip off, it's green legacy may alreadybe as powerful as a LeBron James tomohawk slam.
